Our ingredients...
Our Cacao:
Unlike most leading chocolate brands that list sugar as the first ingredient, we believe chocolate (cacao) should always come first! We use raw organic Peruvian Criollo cacao prized for its superior flavour and is used by other luxury chocolate brands. It is considered a delicacy! These beans are grown sustainably by smallholders in Peru using the agroforestry land management system, which has a significantly lower environmental impact compared to fertiliser-heavy plantations that cause deforestation.

Our cacao remains raw, retaining maximum nutrients and antioxidants because it is not exposed to high temperatures. Antioxidants help reduce inflammation, support cardiovascular health, and boost moods. Raw cacao contains high levels of flavonoids, which can regulate blood pressure and flow. Our process ensures the cacao remains raw from start to finish, using low temperatures to preserve its benefits.

Our coconuts:
We use organic creamed coconut to make our chocolate creamy and dreamy. Our creamed coconut is from the ancient coconut estates of Sri Lanka, where only humans pick the coconuts - never children or monkeys, which unfortunately is not always the case elsewhere. These virgin coconut estates only use organic compost fertilisers, not chemicals. The coconuts are processed at low temperatures to preserve their nutritional benefits.

Our maple granules:
While many businesses use coconut sugar in raw chocolate because it is easy to source and relatively inexpensive, we believe maple tastes 100% better. It adds subtle caramel notes and a depth of flavor not achieved by coconut sugar. Although it is about five times more expensive, it is worth it. We are unique in using maple granules in our chocolate – we have not found any other artisan vegan chocolate brands that do!

The maple is grown at a South Ridge Maple Farm, deep in the wilderness, providing the sweetest organic Canadian maple syrup. The soil in central New Brunswick imparts delicate notes of caramel and vanilla. The farm has over 200,000 Canadian sugar maples. The maple sap is collected using gravity-fed lines to minimize energy use. Traditional oil-fired evaporators have been replaced with high-efficiency concentrating filters and modern wood pellet-burning steam evaporators. The wood pellets used are sourced from waste wood and sawdust from a maple mill, producing almost zero net greenhouse gas emissions.

Our vanilla:
We only use real ground organic premium quality vanilla pods - no extract or essence here. All vanilla beans are sourced ethically, with fair rates paid to growers. The vanilla bean powder is produced from a blend of Bourbon and Tahitian vanilla pods.
